Although there isn't much in God's Word - the Holy Bible there are enough verses to let the reader know that God does reveal there are actual literal waters in Heaven now and in the Heavenly or New Jerusalem and the New Earth in the Eternal Age. God reveals this from Genesis in the beginning to Revelation at the end of His word and the end of time. Although this will likely be actual physical water it will also have a spiritual healing or life giving aspect as well.
In Genesis God talks about the Firmament or Heaven dividing the waters that are below the Firmament from the waters that are above the Firmament or Heaven. God speaks of the waters that are above the Firmament in the same matter of fact way as the waters below the Firmament or Heaven so as the waters below the Firmament are literal, physical waters so the waters that are above the Firmament are likely literal, physical waters as well although the waters above the Firmament might a spiritual or miraculous aspect as well as its physical or natural aspect. God saying that he put the lights of the stars including planets and the sun and moon in the Firmament or Heaven and that these other waters are above the Firmament probably means the waters above the Firmament are not just waters in the atmosphere of Earth but beyond the stars, planets and galaxies which are in the Firmament or 2nd heavens in the place of paradise and God's dwelling in the 3rd heavens. The scripture reference in Genesis 1 about the waters above the Firmament or above Heaven is as follows:
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters that were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights of the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth. And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. Genesis 1:6-8, 14-19
In Psalm 148 God(the LORD) commands the physical or natural heavens and heavenly objects like the sun, moon and stars(which includes the planets and galaxies etc.) to praise God(the LORD). God also commands praise of Him from the heavens and the beings that dwell in the heavens (the second or astronomical heaven and also the third heaven or paradise where God and departed people who have trusted in God and Jesus Christ His Son in this life. The angels also probably dwell in the first heaven or Earth's atmosphere.) Although I don't know for sure, I think the heavens of heavens is the third Heaven of paradise and the place of God's dwelling and throne and the place of departed godly human beings. In this scripture passage God also commands the waters above the heavens to praise Him I think meaning the waters above the 1st and 2nd heavens that are in paradise or the heavenly country or city where God the LORD sits on His throne and godly people go after death. At least part of the meaning of the waters above the heavens praising the LORD or God is that intelligent beings such as angels and godly humans who have died and left Earth when they have resurrection bodies and can sing are to praise the LORD or God from near the waters above the heavens in the 3rd heaven. The scripture reference in Psalm 148 of God commanding the heavens and the waters above the heavens and those dwelling in or near them to praise Him is as follows:
Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye(you) waters that be above the heavens. Psalm 148:1-4.
Although this passage and this verse is particularly about the 144,000 Messianic Jewish witnesses who will be God and Jesus' primary witnesses of His Gospel in the Great Tribulation or 70th week of Daniel it could likely also apply to believers in God and Jesus in general including from the present Church Age that also especially comprises God's Heavenly people. The 144,000 Messianic Jewish witnesses are in this passage seen in Heaven by the fountains of living waters or waters above the heavens after they are finished their witness and work for God and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ on Earth during the first half of the Great Tribulation. In this scripture verse it says there will be not one but many fountains of water and they will be of living water to look after the believers' spirit as well as resurrection body or spiritual body for true Christians. These fountains of living waters or waters above the heavens will also be a place of comfort as the Lamb, Jesus Christ Himself, will wipe away all tears from their eyes and lead them to these fountains of living waters Himself. Primarily in this passage these fountains of living waters are probably in the heavenly city or whatever heavenly country there is now or will be in the Great Tribulation but there will likely also be many fountains of living waters in the New Jerusalem and New Earth for both the 144,000, and Church age or Old Testament believers to enjoy in (the 3rd) Heaven. The scripture verse for the fountains of living waters in heaven for God and Jesus followers to enjoy in Revelation 7 is as follows:
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto fountains of living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Revelation 7:17
In the New Jerusalem God promises a fountain of living water from His throne to nourish believers for our eternal spiritual bodies(those who thirst in our hearts after God and His Son Jesus Christ) from this present Church age or age of grace or age of the Holy Spirit. This fountain of living water from God's throne will be from the New or Heavenly Jerusalem that will in the eternal age come down from Heaven to rest on the New and eternal Earth. God also promises He will make all things new which will include the provision for our new spiritual bodies without our old sinless natures or hearts when we get to heaven and are resurrected at the rapture. God also promises to dwell with all of us who become His people in this life through receiving Him through trusting in His Son Jesus Christ that He died for our sins and rose again from the dead to give us new and eternal life. God also promises that all true believers will have Him as our God and we as His children or heirs. The scripture passage in Revelation 21 about the fountain of living waters in the Heavenly or New Jerusalem from God's Throne is as follows:
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son(child). Revelation 21:5-7
In the New or Heavenly Jerusalem there is a pure river of the water of life which probably means its purity will satisfy our spiritual thirst. It is also clear as crystal which probably means it will also satisfy our physical thirst in our spiritual or new bodies. It proceeds out of the throne of God and the Lamb which adds to the idea of this water as God's loving provision and its spiritual or miraculous nature as well as physical nature and that it is probably associated with the fountain of water from God's throne in Revelation 21. There will also be a street or streets probably of gold and instances of the tree of life that will be nourished by this river on either side of its riverbanks to provide food for the spiritual bodies of believers in God through the Lord Jesus Christ from all nations, languages and tribes or peoples of the Earth in this present Church age and from other ages or dispensations. The leaves of the tree of life that will be nourished by the river of the water of life will also be for the healing of the nations. The scripture passage about the waters above the heavens of the river of the water of life in Revelation 22 is as follows:
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:1-2
